Level 2 Judges

Level 2 Judges are capable of judging 4-H Club Shows, larger Heifer Shows & smaller County Shows, as well as Breeder’s Cups and providing official placings for Judging Classes at twilight & barn meetings.

Biographical Info

Kerry, along with her daughter, Lainie operate Maker Holsteins and Jerseys in Rockwood, Ontario. Maker Holsteins and Jerseys had the honour to be named the Top Ontario Young Jersey Breeder herd in 2011 and the Canadian Jersey Young Achiever in 2017. Kerry has judged multiple 4-H shows and county shows, both in the Holstein and Jersey division. Furthermore, she has had the opportunity to judge the Michigan Jersey Summer Show in 2015 and the Jersey Showmanship at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair in 2015. Kerry keeps herself busy by being a 4-H leader, being a member on the Genetic Improvement Committee for Jersey Canada and she enjoy doing graphic design and advertising.

Randy Bullock is from Lakefield, Ontario where he currently lives with his wife, Tara and three children, Lily, Aidan and Liam. He owns and operates Cedarvilla Holsteins and Jerseys, where his family milks 55 cows consisting of 12 EX, 24 VG and 20 GP. His whole family is extremely involved on the farm, which led them to be awarded the Peterborough County Farm Family of the Year in 2015. In Randy’s judging career, he has had the opportunity to judge many 4-H shows including the Eastern Ontario Junior Show and multiple Breeders Cups throughout Ontario. When Randy is not working on the farm, he finds time to be a hockey coach, a Director on the Jersey Ontario Board, a 4-H leader and a coach for the Peterborough Inter-County 4-H Judging team.

Biographical Info

Ron Canning along with his wife, Shelley and two sons, Travis and Tyler own and operate Canhope Holsteins in Palmerston, Ontario which has herd classification of 13 EX, 36 VG, 4GP. The Canhope herd consists of approximately 60 cows and are situated on a 100 acre farm in Wellington County. Canhope has had many successes over the years including animals that have bred and owned being nominated for All Ontario and All Quebec. Most recently in 2016, they were awarded Reserve All Ontario for Fraeland Fever Blana and Honourable Mention Quebec for Canhope Dempsey Brenlyssa. Ron has been a 4-H leader for 20 years and you can find him at the 4-H shows in lending support to his family and 4-H club members. Ron has judged numerous 4-H shows in Western Ontario along with the Haldimand/Norfolk County Shows as well as County Breeders Cup competitions.

Biographical Info

Jim and his wife, Becka are owners of Frankhaven Holsteins in Woodstock, Ontario. Frankhaven Holsteins have specialized in the export of dairy cattle and they have a high interest in show cattle. In Jim’s judging career, he has judged 4-H shows including the Caledonia Fair Inter County 4-H show in 2015 and the Mitchell 4-H Dairy Club Achievement day in 2015. Jim takes great pride in exhibiting Grand Champions at the Middlesex and Oxford County Shows. Additionally, he bred Frankhaen Goldengugy Lisa, the first place Intermediate Calf at the TD Canadian 4-H Dairy Classic Show and Frankhaven Dunner Paris, the first place 2 year old at Oxford County Show. Furthermore, Jim enjoys playing sports, including golf, hockey and snowboarding.

Biographical Info

Ian Fraser along with his wife, Jen and two children, Meaghan and Reid operate Gleneil Farms in Dalkeith, Ontario. Gleneil Farms is Holstein and Jersey farm where they milk 50 cows and farm 350 acres. Ian is no stranger to the dairy industry as he is very involved throughout Ontario. He is the past President of the Ontario Holstein Branch and of his local Holstein Club. Additionally, Ian is on the Board of Directors for his Church. Ian has enjoyed his time judging at 4-H shows in Ontario in Quebec, including the Eastern Ontario 4-H Junior Show. Furthermore, he has had the opportunity to judge Breeders Cups, heifer shows and a county show in Quebec.

Biographical Info

Edward Huffman and his wife Elaine hail from Corbyville, Ontario. Edward and his brother Edwin and their families own and operate Huffmandale Holsteins Ltd. Huffmandale Holsteins is a 300 acre farm that milks 65 purebred Holsteins. Edward has been an active 4-H Leader for the past 35 years for the Dairy Calf Club and the Judging Club. In his spare time, he enjoys playing in a men’s hockey league during the winter months. In 2014, the Huffman’s were awarded the BMO Farm Family Award, which is an award to recognize outstanding families across Ontario who represent the values of the family farm within their rural communities. Over the past couple of years, Edward has had the opportunity to judge multiple 4-H shows and county Holstein and Jersey shows.

Kevin Johnston along with his wife Tammy Van Der Linden live in Martintown where they operate Cherry Crest Holsteins. Cherry Crest Holsteins is a two-time Master Breeder herd that milks 80 cows in a tie-stall barn. They are extremely active in the show ring, resulting in many All Ontario and All Canadian awards. Throughout Kevin’s judging career, he has had the opportunity to judge multiple 4-H shows throughout Ontario and Quebec, Breeders Cups and at multiple fairs.

Biographical Info

Christopher Kyle and his family hail from Ayr, Ontario where they milk approximately 50 cows under the Ashlawn prefix. The herd is comprised of mostly Jerseys, however they have Holsteins and Milking Shorthorns as well. Furthermore, Chris has an interest in owning sheep and beef cattle. Chris has judged many 4-H shows in Ontario’s West Central District which includes the Rockton Championship 4-H Show. Additionally, Chris has officiated at many Jersey competitions including the Quinte Jersey Championship Show and the Oxford County Jersey Breeders Cup. A highlight of Chris’s judging career was when he had the opportunity to judge the Futurity class at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair Jersey Show.

Biographical Info

Colin Leach along with his wife, Karen and son, David immigrated to Canada in 2008. Upon arrival they purchased a 320 acre farm in Lindsay, Ontario and established the Leachland prefix. Leachland is currently comprised of 30 milking Holsteins and Jerseys and a herd of pedigreed Simmental beef cattle. Throughout the last 5 years, Colin has owned or bred animals that have been nominated for All Canadian awards, including Leachland Atwood Megabyte, the Honourable Mention All Canadian Senior 2 in 2016. Colin has started his judging career with 4-H shows throughout Ontario.

Greg and his wife, Kristine and daughter, Grace currently reside in Belmont, Ontario. Greg has always been involved within the dairy industry as a hoof trimmer and a professional leadsman. In the past, Greg had the honour of leading the champion cow at the World Dairy Expo in Madison, Wisconsin. In Greg’s judging career, he has had the opportunity to judge multiple 4-H shows. In his free time, Greg takes time to be a hockey coach.

Biographical Info

Morgon hails from Northumberland County and is an operator of Kingsway Farms. Kingsway Farms is a 700 acre farm that milks 75 cows and is involved in buying, selling and showing cattle. Kingsway Farms has been the Premier Breeder at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair in 2009, 2010 and 2015. They have also had the opportunity to have several All-Canadian and All-American awards. Morgon attended the University of Guelph, where he received his Bachelor of Science in Agriculture degree with a major in Honours Agriculture. Morgon has started his judging career with judging 4-H shows around Ontario and British Columbia. When Morgon is not in the barn, you can find him being active in his church or playing hockey and golf.

Devin O’Hara resides in Schomberg, Ontario where he helps operate Dandyland Holsteins along with his family. Dandyland Holsteins is a Master Breeder herd that milks 80 Holsteins in a free stall facility with a focus on type and longevity. Upon graduation from the University of Guelph, Ridgetown Campus with a diploma in agriculture, Devin became a Holstein Canada classifier for 7 years before returning to his home farm in 2016. Having competed and succeeding at the highest level in 4-H, Devin enjoys using his experiences to help 4-H members. Devin has had the opportunity to officiate at 4-H shows and Breeders Cups throughout Ontario and looks forward to seeing where his judging career takes him in the future.

Jonathan Rylaarsdam hails from Winchester, Ontario where he farms with his family under the Delcreek prefix. Delcreek is a two-time Master Breeder who is noted worldwide as having bred many animals that have been nominated for All Ontario, All Canadian and All American awards. A highlight for Jon was breeding Delcreek Fatal Attraction, the Unanimous All American and All Canadian Senior Calf in 2011. Jonathan has started his judging career by judging 4-H shows in Ontario, Quebec and the United States and is excited to see where the future of judging will take him.

Biographical Info

Doug along with his wife, Carol and children, Bryn and Lochlan reside in Merrickville, Ontario. Doug is the North American Editor for the magazine Holstein International. Throughout his judging career, Doug has had the opportunity to judge internationally in North America, Sweden and South Africa, including judging the Red and White Holsteins and the Shorthorn show at World Dairy Expo. Doug was also one of the official judges of the Hoards Dairyman Competition in 2015 for the Shorthorn breed. When Doug is not judging dairy, you can also find him judging sheep. In his spare time, Doug enjoys music and singing.

Jeff’s family along with his father, Brian and his brother, Bruce’s family operates Bridon Farms. Bridon Farms is a Master Breeder Holstein and Jersey farm which milks 90 cows with robots and farms 600 acres. Additionally, Bridon Farms has had several Jersey All-Canadian awards and nominations. Jeff has judged many 4-H shows, county shows, Breeders Cups and Championship Shows. Some shows that Jeff has judged are the Quebec Spring Jersey Show, the Eastern Ontario-Western Quebec Jersey Show, Stratford Championship Jersey Show and in 2005 he was the associate judge of the Jersey Show at the World Dairy Expo. In Jeff’s spare time, he enjoys spending time watching his kids play sports and showing Modena pigeons.

Matt Yates resides in Beaverton, Ontario where he lives with his family on a 600 acre farm in Beaverton, Ontario. They currently milk approximately 80 Holsteins and Jerseys under the prefix Aleah Farms. Matt is extremely involved with marketing and showing their animals at local, regional and national shows. He often breeds, owns or raises animals that are nominated for All Ontario, All Canadian and All American awards. Some highlights for Matt in the show ring include being a part owner of Robrook Goldwyn Cameron when she was a 2 year old and having the ability to watch her go onto being Grand Champion at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair in 2013. Additionally, he is a part owner Delcreek Naughty By Night who was Reserve All American and Honourable Mention All Canadian and went onto breed several All Canadian daughters. In 2015, Matt was honoured to be recognized with the Mike McGriskin Memorial Award for being an individual who excels both at home and on the show circuit. Matt has had the opportunity to officiate at 4-H shows and Breeders Cups in Ontario and he is excited to further his judging career.
