Biographical Info

Glenn Barkey hails from Blackstock, Ontario where he co-owns and operates Altona Lea Farms. Altona Lea milks 55 cows in Blackstock, Ontario and is one of the very few elite farms in Canada that has three Master Breeder Shields. They are known in the dairy world for breeding the first homebred ninth generation Excellent cow, Altona Lea Windbrook Jezebel (EX-91). Glenn is extremely involved within his community, acting as a 4-H leader, a founding member of Leading Livestock Genetics, a past member of Durham Region Dairy Producers Committee, a member of the Durham East 4-H Council and a Director on the Durham County Holstein board. All of his community involvement and volunteerism was recognized in 2013 when he was awarded the Queen’s Jubilee Award. Glenn is no stranger to Judging as he has judged many 4-H shows, Breeders Cups, county shows, regional shows and National shows. One of Glenn’s judging highlights was judging the Dominican Republic National Holstein Show in 2015.

Biographical Info

Terry along with his wife Glenda and three children, Mariah, Kaylin and Shayla reside in Sunderland, Ontario where they own and operate Beckholme Holsteins. Beckholme is a 450 acre farm where they milk 50 cows in a tie-stall barn.  Terry is no stranger to the show ring as he had the Junior Champion heifer at the Royal Winter Fair in 2010 with Rockymountain Goldwyn Trisha and had his Junior Herd nominated All-Canadian in 2014.  When Terry is not an exhibitor, you will often find him judging 4-H shows, Breeders Cups’ or County shows throughout Ontario.  He has been proud to judge the Western Canadian Classic and the Jersey Showmanship at the Royal Winter Fair.

Biographical Info

Dave Bergeron along with his wife, Bonnie and daughter, Graceson reside in Hammond, Ontario where they run Dream Ridge Farms. Dream Ridge Farms is a small farm in which they raise, show and merchandize Ayrshires, Jerseys and Holsteins. Throughout Dave’s judging career, he has had the opportunity to officiate multiple 4-H shows, Breeder’s Cups and championship shows throughout Canada , including in Ontario, Quebec, Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia. Dave had the honour to officiate the Ayshire Show at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair in 2013 and the Ayrshire National Show in Columbia in 2015. Furthermore, Dave has had the opportunity to judge Brown Swiss, Holsteins and Ayshires in Finland and the United States . Outside of the farm, Dave is a Captain with the Ottawa Fire Department. In 2005, he was awarded with the Ayrshire Award of Merit for having a passion for the Ayshire breed and being dedicated to making the breed even better. Additionally, in 2007 he was presented with Ayshire Canada’s Personality of the Year award and was awarded the Ontario Agricultural Service Award in 2015.

Lorne is an official Jersey Canada Judge

Lorne and his wife, Theresa currently reside in Renfrew, Ontario. Lorne owns registered cattle under the Bonnechere Holsteins prefix and has received many All Canadian and All Ontario awards. Recently, Lorne has been a proud partner in the ownership of Trent Valley Gold Chip Abra 6, the 2015 Champion Calf at the TD Canadian Dairy Classic Show. Lorne has had the privilege to judge many County Shows and the honour to judge prestigious 4-H shows in Ontario and Quebec. Lorne is also an Official Jersey Canada Judge.

Lorne grew up at Roybrook Farm, Brooklin Ontario and spent 12 years as Herdsman working with Master Breeder, Roy Ormiston at Roybrook until the sale of the herd in 1990. Lorne continued working in the Agricultural industry after the sale as an AI Technician, Sales Representative and worked his way up to a Regional Manager. Lorne also owns Artist Pride Inc.; an advertising and graphic design company. Lorne was privileged to have been a member of the Holstein Canada’s Cow of the Year nomination committee for many years. Lorne has also been an official judge on several All Ontario Holstein Committees. Lorne is participating in Holstein Ontario’s Judging Mentorship program as a Mentor.

Biographical Info

Glen Burgess currently milks 60 cows in a tie-stall under the Cedarpatch Holsteins and Golden Jerseys prefixes.  In 2012, Glen had the honour of receiving a Master Breeder Shield with Holstein Canada.  Additionally, Glen has accumulated numerous Jersey All-Canadian nominations and winners.  Throughout the years, Glen has judged multiple 4-H shows, Breeders’ Cups, County shows and championship shows.  Furthermore, Glen has had the opportunity to judge in Columbia at the Jersey Championship Show. In his spare time, Glen enjoys curling, helping 4-H members and being a member on his Ag Society.

Biographical Info

Justin Crowley is a fifth generation dairy farmer operating Crovalley Holsteins. Crovalley Holsteins is a two-time Master Breeder herd that milks approximately 100 purebred animals. Justin has had a great amount of success in the show ring as he has been Grand showperson at the TD Canadian Dairy Classic Show in 2009 and had the Grand Champion calf in 2005. Additionally, Justin enjoys getting cattle ready for the show ring. In 2010, he was awarded with first place in the Ontario Summer Show Clipping Competition and in 2012 he traveled to the European Championship Show to clip. In the past few years, Justin has had the opportunity to judge 4-H shows, Breeders’ Cups, and the Eastern Ontario Jersey Show. When Justin isn’t working at home, he is a Quality Seeds Sales Representative. From receiving top reasons and placings at the Inter-County Judging Competition in 2010 and having the opportunity to travel to World Dairy Expo on the Judging team, Justin is very excited to further his judging career.

Andrew along with his wife, Amanda and two kids, Ava and Archer are the owners of Glen Islay. Glen Islay is a 300 acre farm and they milk 50 cows with robots. Additionally, their farm is a recipient of the Allstream program.  Outside of farming, Andrew is a sales representative with EastGen. In the past, Andrew has had the opportunity to judge 4-H shows, Breeder Cups’ and a Jersey County show.  Andrew also is involved with Shorthorn beef cattle and enjoys golf and snowboarding.

Biographical Info

John DeVries and his wife, Alice own and operate Willdina Farms in Bowmanville, Ontario. John bred and developed this Master Breeder herd that featured Holsteins and Jerseys which was dispersed in May 2015. Since the herd dispersal, John has been involved with buying and raising Holstein heifers and has also established a purebred Angus herd. John has had many highlights through his career, including breeding Willdina Jade Bee, the All-American Jersey in 2014 who was also Supreme Champion of the Junior Show at World Dairy Expo. John’s judging career has seen him officiate at 50 4-H achievement shows and many 4-H championship shows. He has also judged multiple County shows, Breeders Cups’ and Jersey shows, including the Jersey Championship Show in Stratford and the Quinte Championship Show in Belleville. Some of John’s judging highlights have been judging internationally in Peru, South Africa and Portugal. John is extremely involved within the dairy industry including being a member on the Semex board for 7 years and the Holstein Canada Show Committee.

Jamie and his wife, Crystal and his two daughters, Danica and Clara operate Hi-Hope Holsteins. Hi-Hope Holsteins is 60 acre farm which milks 55 cows with robots. In the past couple of years, Jamie has taken on the responsibility to judge multiple 4-H shows and Breeders Cups. Additionally, Jamie has had the opportunity to work with many great cows across Canada and Internationally as a fitter prior to starting his own farm. Furthermore, he operates Tidy Toes Hoof care, where he hoof trims approximately 7000 cows per year. When he is not farming or hoof trimming, Jamie enjoys golf and slow-pitch.

Biographical Info

Steve along with his wife Jackie live in Fergus where they own and operate Fraeland Farms. Fraeland Farms is a Master Breeder herd that milks approximately 90 Holsteins. Steve has had many achievements over the years including the honours of being Champion Showperson and Champion Calf at the Hays Classic, which is now known as the Canadian 4-H Dairy Classic Show at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair. Additionally, Steve has had a very successful judging career from officiating at over 20 4-H shows, multiple county shows, championship shows and Breeders Cups throughout Ontario. Furthermore, Steve has also had the opportunity to judge internationally at the Brown Swiss show at International Dairy Week in Australia and the Senior Showmanship class at the World Dairy Expo in Madison, Wisconsin.

Jason French is an active member throughout the dairy industry.  In the past, he has judged over 50 4-H shows and some County shows.  Additionally, he has had the opportunity to judge showmanship at the New York Spring Show.  Jason is involved with 4-H as the Eramosa Dairy Club Leader and has been involved with his daughters, Connor and Blaire’s 4-H calves that have been nominated All-Ontario and All-Canadian. Kevin along with his wife, Cheryel and two kids, Ashley and Ryan operate Harvdale Holsteins. Harvdale Holsteins is a 400 acre farm that milks between 45 and 50 cows in a tie-stall barn. Kevin and his family were extremely pleased to receive their first Master Breeder Shield in 2015.  Prior to achieving their goal of a Master Breeder award, they have bred multiple All-Canadian and All-Ontario nominations, including the 2003 All-Canadian Junior 2 year old.  Over the years, Kevin has had the opportunity to judge local, regional and championship 4-H shows, Breeders’ Cups and County shows. Additionally, he has been a 4-H leader for the past 45 years in Simcoe County. In his spare time, Kevin enjoys sports, fishing and has coached hockey.

Alan and his wife, Penny Hawthorne own Bobmur Farms along with their children Cassie and Jordan.  Their family farm is a two time Master Breeder Shield herd (1979 and 1994), where they milk 60 cows and crop 300 acres.  In his judging career, Alan has judged both Holsteins and Jerseys at an abundant amount of 4-H shows, County Shows, and Breeders’ Cups. Alan is no stranger to the show ring as Bobmur has had Grand Champion Red and White Holstein at the World Dairy Expo in 1996 and 1997, Intermediate Champion Jersey at the Royal Winter Fair in 1999 and many All-Ontario, All-Canadian and All-American awards.  In his spare time, Alan enjoys watching his kids show in 4-H and play hockey and lacrosse.

John Hazeleger owns and operates Hazelcrest Holsteins in Embro, Ontario. John’s family includes 4 married children Natalie (Darryl, son Clark), Allison ( Neil, daughter Eliza), Madeline (Josh, son Calvin) and Mark (Jenn, son Logan, daughter Leah). Hazelcrest Holsteins is a Master Breeder herd that presently milks 60 cows in a tie-stall barn. Madeline and her husband Josh Smith and young son Calvin have decided to continue the business and a new robot barn will start operating in July of 2017 with capacity for 120 milking cows. Additionally, the Hazelcrest herd has always supported the Oxford County Holstein Show with the best going on to compete at a higher level resulting in having one animal nominated for All Ontario and All Canadian. Have also supported the Red and White shows in Ontario and at the Royal. John has also been a 4 H leader, a past president of the Embro Zorra Agr. Society, a board member of the Oxford County Holstein Club and also served as a board member of WOBI and Gencor, serving as president for Gencor and the former Gencor Foods. Presently he is on the board of Oxford Milkway Transport Coop. Throughout his judging career, John has officiated at many 4-H shows in Western Ontario, including the Rockton Fair. Furthermore, he has judged county shows and Breeders Cups throughout Ontario. Some of John’s judging highlights are when he has judged internationally in the Dominican Republic, Uruguay, and Peru. John has many interests in the community which includes performing in the local theatre, singing in a church and local choirs, golf, skiing, curling and spending time with the grand kids.

Jamie Howard was born and raised in Flemingsburg, Kentucky where his career in the dairy industry began through the ownership and operation of Howard-View Holsteins. Although just a small herd of 35-40 registered Holsteins, it carried the honour of being the 8th Highest Classified Herd (BAA) in the United States from 2006-2007. Presently, Jamie operates Howard-View Holsteins from his family’s small hobby farm in Burgessville, Ontario as a small breeding establishment while serving as the EastGen Regional Sales Manager for Western Ontario. He has become recognised for the development of national show-level animals and the marketing of elite genetics world-wide. Even in his free time, Jamie remains active in the dairy industry, as he invests his time supporting his children, Madison, Morgan and McKenzie, alongside his wife, Angela, and coaching them in dairy judging and showmanship in 4-H. Jamie has had ample personal experience in dairy judging, being 2nd High Individual in the 4-H Judging Contest at the 1985 World Dairy Expo and judging numerous shows encompassing several dairy breeds, ranging from county to state championship level. He also actively remains on the judging list for the Holstein USA.

Biographical Info

Brent Howe and his wife, Angela of Howes Holsteins reside in Aylmer, Ontario. Brent is an avid Holstein enthusiast and has worked with some of the best show cows of the Holstein breed. Many animals that Brent has owned have gone on to be All American and All Canadian. Currently Brent is a Genetic Consultant for Select Sires GenerVations where he works with dairy farmers in his district to make informed sire selections. Additionally, Brent is also a sales agent for Walker Dairy Sales in Aylmer, Ontario. In 1994, Brent was chosen as the Champion show person at the Scotiabank Hays Classic. His talent and passion for 4-H has lead him into volunteering as a 4-H leader in Elgin County. Brent has officiated at multiple 4-H and county shows throughout Ontario. Furthermore, Brent has experience judging at a championship, provincial and state level. A highlight of Brent’s judging career was being the official judge for the Holstein Futurity class at the World Dairy Expo in Madison, Wisconsin.

Biographical Info

Hugh Hunter along with his wife Arlene and four children live in Smiths Falls, Ontario where he is the third generation to operate Maple-Ain Farms. Maple-Ain is a 750 acre farm that milks 100 purebred Holstein cows and is a three-time Master Breeder Shield recipient. When Hugh is not busy on the farm, you will find him generously donating his time to his community. He is an active 4-H leader, involved throughout his church, a member of his community concert band and the Past President of his local Holstein Club. All of Hugh’s involvement has lead him to be the Leeds Farm Family of the Year and to be a finalist for the Ontario Outstanding Young Farmer award. Throughout his judging career, Hugh has enjoyed judging multiple 4-H achievement and regional shows across Ontario and Quebec. Additionally, he has had the opportunity to judge multiple county shows and Breeders Cups.

Bobby Jarrell along with his wife Jennifer and three children, Charlotte, Sidney and Felicity live in Corbyville, Ontario. They milk 85 Holsteins and Jerseys under the RJ Farms prefix. They are no strangers to the show ring as they have received Premier Breeder at the Royal Winter Fairs Jersey show in 2012 and 2013, along with winning Reserve Grand Champion Jersey in 2013. When Bobby isn’t showing, you will often find him judging. He has judged multiple 4-H shows throughout his career including the Britespan 4-H Dairy Invitational Show in 2014 and showmanship at the EastGen Showcase in 2015. Additionally, he has judged Breeders Cups along with county shows and many Jersey Parish shows.

Dave Johnston along with his wife, Christine and 4 children live in Listowel, Ontario. He owns and operates Maplevue Farms with his brother Doug, where they milk 55 cows and farm 1700 acres. Throughout Dave’s judging career, he has had the opportunity to judge many 4-H shows, county shows and Breeders Cups. Aside from the farm operation, Dave is an active auctioneer at the Ontario Livestock Exchange (OLEX), a hockey coach and is involved in his church as a deacon. Dave is a three-time finalist at the Ontario Auction Competition and a two-time nominee for the Ontario Outstanding Young Farmer award.

Dean Karn along with his wife Karen and family operate Karnvilla Holsteins in Woodstock, Ontario. Karnvilla is a Master Breeder herd which strives to balance a breeding strategy of type and production. They are the home of the Karnvilla Shychief Roxe family, who was Nominated Canadian Cow of the year in 2007 and Nominated Global Cow of the Year in 2008. Karnvilla has had many All Canadian awards and genetics exported worldwide. Dean has had the opportunity to judge multiple 4-H shows, county shows, and Breeders Cups throughout Ontario. Additionally, he has had the privilege to judge internationally in Peru and Portugal. In 2014, Dean received the Oxford 4-H Volunteer Award where a tree was planted to honour his contribution to 4-H.

Jon Kingdon along with his wife, Sandy and their children, Sydney and Shae farm with Jon’s parents in Warwick, Ontario. Charlyn Farms is a 40 cow herd situated on 250 acres in Lambton County. This impressive herd is mainly composed of Jerseys with a couple of Holsteins. Before returning home to farm, Jon was a fitter for 15 years where he travelled throughout North America helping breeders prepare their animals to show. Jon has a passion to show his animals where he exhibits at local, regional and national shows. As a result of this, Charlyn Farms has bred and owned 50 animals that have been nominated for All Canadian awards. In 2016, Jon and Sandy were recognized for all their accomplishments and dedication to the Jersey breed when they were the recipients of Jersey Canada’s Young Achiever Award. Jon has judged 4-H shows, Jersey Championship shows and Breeders Cups throughout Ontario. Furthermore, Jon has had the opportunity to be the associate judge at Autumn Opportunity Holstein show and a Jersey show in Louisville, Kentucky. A highlight of Jon’s judging career to date is when he had the opportunity to officiate at the Maryland State Fair Jersey Show in the United States.

Glengarry Stock Farms is a Master Breeder herd where they milk 70 cows and have bred many outstanding animals that have resulted in bulls being sold to AI. In his spare time, Warren sits as a director on the EastGen and Semex boards. Throughout his judging career, Warren has judged many 4-H shows throughout Ontario and Quebec. A highlight of Warren’s judging career was when he had the opportunity to officiate internationally in Russia.

Biographical Info

Kevin MacLean with his wife, Jo-Ann and daughter, Adrianna own and operate Ripplebrook Farm in Nappanee, Ontario. Ripplebrook milks 130 cows in a sand bedded free-stall barn where 90% of all the cows are scored GP or higher, including the very first excellent Goldwyn world-wide in 2006. Throughout Kevin’s life, he has accomplished more than the average person. In 2001, he graduated from the Advanced Agricultural Leadership Program and in 2006 and 2009, he was a finalist for the Outstanding Young Farmer Competition. After graduating from the University of Guelph’s agricultural program, Kevin sold feed for Purina from 1994 until 2000. Furthermore, he is a huge advocate for the dairy industry as he always embraces opportunities to host tours throughout his farm for youth groups, service groups and school trips. Throughout Kevin’s judging career, he has had the opportunity to judge multiple 4-H shows, Breeders Cups and regional shows.

Kyle MacLoed hails from Embro, Ontario where he helps operate Darcroft Farms with his family. Darcroft is a two-time Master Breeder Shield recpient and currently milks 100 cows in a new sand free stall barn. Over the past couple of years, Kyle has had the opportunity to judge many 4-H shows throughout the province of Ontario. In 2007, Kyle was a member of the Ontario Judging Team where he competed against many teams from the United States at the World Dairy Expo in Madison, Wisconsin. Aside from the farm operation, Kyle is an active 4-H leader and is involved in the Oxford County Holstein Club.

Biographical Info

Phyllis MacMaster and her family own and operate Donaster Farms in Alexandris, Ontario where they milk 40 cows. Outside of the farm, Phyllis used to work for OMAFRA as a Nutrient Management Specialist. Since her retirement Phyllis has been facilitating the Grower Pesticide Courses and Nutrient Management Certification Courses in the area. Phyllis who lives in Winchester is an extremely active member in her community acting as the treasurer and an elder at St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church in Winchester. Furthermore, she is 4-H volunteer in Dundas, a member of the Eastern Ontario Western Quebec Championship Show Committee and a part of the committees which started the TD Canadian Dairy Classic 4-H Show and Inter-County Dairy Judging Competition. Phyllis can often be heard as the official announcer for many 4-H, county and championship shows across Eastern Ontario. To honour Phyllis’s involvement, she was inducted into Glengarry’s Agricultural Hall of Fame. Phyllis has had the opportunity to judge many 4-H shows in Eastern Ontario and the Stormont County Holstein Show.

Kevin with his wife, Becky McGrisken and two kids, Avery and Wade operate Kentville Holsteins and Jerseys in Melancthon, Ontario.  Kentville Holsteins is a Master Breeder herd which is currently milking 40 animals.  Throughout his judging career, Kevin has judged multiple 4-H shows, County Shows and Breeders’ Cups.  When Kevin is not in the ring judging, he enjoys clipping all over Canada, United States, Australia and the United Kingdom.  He is proud to say that he has clipped multiple Grand and Supreme Champions, including at World Dairy Expo, Royal Agriculture Winter Fair and Dairy Week in Australia.

Biographical Info

Josh along with his wife Jamie, and daughters Olivia and Aubree, call Maplekay Farms home in Woodstock, Ontario. Josh operates the farm milking 40 cows together with his father and brother. Josh has enjoyed the opportunity to judge County Holstein Shows, numerous 4-H shows, and Breeders’ Cups throughout Ontario. Some highlights of judging are the Elgin County Black and White Show, EastGen Challenge in Markham, as well as being asked to be the Associate Judge for the Autumn Opportunity Show. Josh has also in the past enjoyed fitting cattle professionally, travelling throughout more than a dozen different countries for this in the process. Outside of the farm and showing Josh enjoys spending time with family and is involved with JDRF as a member of Team Olivia McKay. Team Olivia is a group that raises money for charity, centered to juvenile diabetes research.

Biographical Info

Curtis McNeil along with his parents Glen and Vanda operate Heather Holme Holsteins in Goderich Ontario. Heather Holme is a three-time Master Breeder Herd that consists of 60 milking cows. Curtis has always shown a keen interest in showing which lead him to work as a cattle fitter before he returned to his home farm. His travels took him to eight different countries where he helped breeders prepare their cattle to show. Curtis was the first person to be Champion show person at the TD Classic 4-H Dairy Classic and the President’s Cup at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair in the same year. Having competed and succeeded at the highest level in 4-H, Curtis has used these experiences to help 4-H members in his area as a 4-H leader and serving on many committees. Curtis has judged many 4-H shows which have included Ancaster Fair and the Lucknow 4-H Dairy Invitational show. Furthermore, he has had the opportunity to judge Breeders Cups throughout Ontario.

Stephanie Murphy hails from Hastings, Ontario where she lives with her husband Camron. Together they milk 50 purebred Holsteins under the Ronbeth prefix along with her parents,Dean and Carol and sister, Lacey. Ronbeth Holsteins is an astonishing 3-time Master Breeder Shield award winner. Off the farm, Stephanie is a Dairy Specialist with Grand Valley Fortifiers. Additionally, Stephanie takes time to be a 4-H volunteer in Peterborough County, is active with the Holstein Canada Young Leader’s program, and a member on the Peterborough Holstein Club and Milk Committee. All of Stephanie’s involvement along with her passion, positive attitude, perseverance and a love of cows made her a very deserving recipient of the Andrea Crowe Memorial Award. Stephanie has had the opportunity to judge 4-H shows across Canada including the Britespan 4-H Dairy Invitational show and showmanship at the Western Canadian Classic in 2015. Additionally, she has judged multiple Breeders Cups throughout Ontario and was the Associate Judge at Autumn Opportunity show in 2014. In 2017, Stephanie has the honour to be the Official showmanship Judge at the Canadian 4-H Dairy Classic show at the Royal Winter Fair.

Richard Osborne along with his wife, Teresa and son, Easton milk approximately 100 Holsteins and Jerseys on a 170 acre farm in Hagersville, Ontario. Richard has officiated at many 4-H and Jersey shows throughout Ontario including the Oxford Jersey Show, Quinte Parish Show, Paris Jersey Show, and the Grey/Bruce Jersey Show. Furthermore, he has judged many Holstein shows such as the Perth County Championship Show. A highlight of Richard’s judging career has been judging the Quinte Championship Jersey Show, one of the top Jersey shows in Ontario. Furthermore, Richard has had the opportunity to judge internationally in the Dominican Republic for their National Jersey and Brown Swiss Show. Richard has been a member on the Nominating Committee for Jersey Canada and has been an All Canadian and All Ontario Judge. Outside of the farm, Richard is a Dairy Consultant for Grand Valley Fortifiers.

Will Pulfer is from Hastings, Ontario where he milks 80 purebred Holsteins under the Erdine Farms Ltd prefix. Additionally, Will is a partner in Venture Genetics, which was created in 2008 with the objective to get the polled gene firmly established into the worlds Holstein population by offering females, males, embryos, and semen by polled sires from top pedigrees. Will started his judging career at a young age, attending the Inter-County Judging Competitions. In 2008, he had the honour to represent Team Ontario at the World Dairy Expo in Madison Wisconsin on the judging team. Since then, he has had the opportunity to judge at multiple 4-H shows throughout Ontario. In his spare time, Will has an interest in baseball and hockey.

Brian Rivington and his wife Jill hail from Carp, Ontario where they own and operate Glennholme Holsteins and Riview Jerseys. This two-time Master Breeder herd is home to many All Canadian and All American award winners, including the 2014 All Canadian Jersey 4-H Yearling and the 2016 All Canadian Junior Heifer Holstein Calf. Additionally they are known for success in the show ring with Red and White animals as well, including the first place Mature Cow at the Royal Winter Fair’s Red and White show in 2015. Brian has always been extremely involved within his community acting as the Past President of the Carp Agricultural Society, the Carleton-Russell Holstein Club and the Huntley Curling club. All of these involvements combined with being a past 4-H Leader led Brian to being a recipient of the Arnprior Region Federation of Agriculture Volunteer Service Award in 2008. Brian has been very successful in his judging career from officiating over 25 4-H shows throughout Ontario and Quebec as well as over 15 county shows throughout Ontario. Furthermore, Brian has attended the National Judging Conference three times and was the Chairman of the Judging Panel for Atlantic Canada’s Judging School.

Kyle Rivington is from Carp, Ontario where he helps operate Glennholme Farms. Kyle is the seventh generation on this very family oriented farm where he milks 60 Holsteins along with his parents and wife, Sophie. Glennholme Farms is a two-time Master Breeder herd, first in 1977 and again in 2012. Kyle was a very active 4-H member. A highlight in Kyle’s 4-H years was in 2009 when he represented Ontario as a member of the Canadian team at the European Young Breeder School in Belgium. He was extremely fortunate to be the overall winner of this international competition. Kyle is also involved around his community as he is a director on the Carp Fair board. He has judged many 4-H shows including showmanship at the Western Canadian Classic show in 2016. Kyle has also officiated several Breeders Cup and shows in Eastern Ontario including the Glengarry County Holstein show. Kyle’s bilingualism gives him the opportunity to judge a wider range of shows including the Huntington County Holstein show in Quebec. When Kyle is not judging, he thoroughly enjoys showing and has great success with it. In 2014, Glennholme exhibited the All Canadian Jersey 4-H Yearling, in 2015 they exhibited the first place Mature Cow at the Royal Winter Fair’s Red and White show and in 2016, they bred and owned the first place march calf at the Royal Winter Fair’s Black and White show.

George owns and operates Cavanaleck Farms Ltd with his brother Jim and nephew Nathan, who is also an official Judge. Cavanaleck Farms Ltd is a 2 time Master Breeder Herd and has been Premier Exhibitor and Premier Breeder at the Middlesex County Show. George has had the opportunity to judge 4-H shows, Breeders Cups, and County Shows. Additionally, he stays active within the 4-H program as his local dairy leader. When George is not spending time with cows, he is very interested in antiques and his family history.

Nathan owns and operates Cavaneleck Farms Ltd. with his father, Jim Thompson and uncle, George Thompson. Cavaneleck Farms Ltd. milks approximately 75 deep pedigreed registered Holsteins in a tie stall facility and crops 500 acres of land. Nathan has had the opportunity to judge many 4-H shows throughout Ontario including the Markham EastGen Challenge. Furthermore, he has officiated Breeders Cups and county shows for both Holsteins and Jerseys.

Paul Velthuis currently resides in Osgoode, Ontario where he owns and operates Velthuis Farms Ltd along with his brother, Steven. Velthuis Farms Ltd is a two-time Master Breeder Shield award winner that currently milks 180 cows in a free-stall barn. Additionally, they crop around 1600 acres and have a significant number of bulls in AI breeding units. Paul has had the opportunity to judge multiple 4-H assignments and county shows throughout his judging career. In his spare time, Paul and his wife Laurie thoroughly enjoy watching their kids play hockey and baseball as well as learning about agriculture and the show ring by participating in the 4-H program.

Over his judging career he has judged several 4-H shows, county shows, regional shows and Breeders Cups. Adam Zehr along with his wife Bethany and family operate Walnutlawn Farms in Tavistock, Ontario. Walnutlawn Farms is a two-time Master Breeder shield recipient and milks 60 cows in a tie-stall barn. In the past, Adam has judged multiple 4-H shows, county shows and Breeders Cups throughout Ontario. When Adam is not on the farm, he is active throughout his Church community and loves sports.

Highlights of 2018 including judging  the Wellington County Breeders’ Cup and Lambton County’s 4-H Achievement Day. In 2017, Adam was proud to judge the 2017 All-Ontario Competition, as well as the Bruce-Grey County Holstein Show.
